oooohhhhh Glamshackle vintage…..
I discovered a gorgeous little boutique at Christmas called Glamshackle, selling the prettiest vintage I have yet seen in a shop! Situated downstairs at The Closet on Guildhall Street in Preston, Lancashire, it is like entering a haven of all things quirky and special.I bought a dress that I recently used in a client’s photoshoot, I think Charlotte looked vey cute in it…..also you can find Glamshackle on Facebook here http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#/glamshackle?v=info
Applications in…..oooohhhh!
I have just applied to go back to university, at the tender age of 25
I so far have an interview at Northumbria, and I’m waiting to hear back from Manchester Met, Middlesex, London College of Fashion and Central St. Martin’s! Exciting but nervous times ahead I think, it’s a bit like going back in time six years, (by the way if I could go back in time it would so be to the sixties…ahh to have shopped in Biba) but also makes me feel like I am starting over and finally doing what i want to do! High five!!
Here’s some pics of Biba, just cos it’s cool…..
S/S topshop lookbook…..
The Spring lookbook for Topshop is now on the website, and I must say I rather like the styling, including the dark lips, MWAH! I also like the simple studio setting and background colour, as it creates a more directional overall look. Having worked as a visual merchandiser at Topshop for the past few years, I have lived the trends there for sooo long and I think these are some of my fave photos so far. I wouldn’t mind a bit of work experience with the creative team, would be awesome to be involved with the creation of the graphics, instead of just having memories of putting them in the lightboxes in store, all on your own, hoping the ladder won’t move!!
Portfolio styling…..
As I recently left my job to concentrate on my own work till I go to uni, I contacted a local photography studio about setting up some fashion shoot packages that they could offer, involving meeee! Now I am the inhouse stylist for them, and I am coming up with ideas to bring the portfolio idea together. So far I’m thinking four different look, 1. Natural head shot and full length shot with simple styling but an edgy feel 2. A fashion look that’s more commercial looking (I’m thinking Topshop, Urban outfitters, various ad campaign style) 3. A fashion look that’s much more directional (style magazine edge, i-D, dazed…) 4. Beauty shot, emphasising on the face and hair and make up but still with a fashion edge.
I have just spent the day making inspiration boards for these ideas, now I normally LOVE making moodboards but today it wasn’t as easy going…..possibly due to me calling them inspiration boards all day instead of mood boards!! That’s clearly the reason!! They’re turning out better than they were looking at first though, and they like to sit next to each other on the settee, watching Friends of course…..this dim lit room and not leaving the house for 3 days is turning me silly I feel!!
Yes, I shall photograph your rehearsal…
My cousin Neil has formed his new band ‘Eyepennies’ and asked me to go take some piccies of them rehearsing at Coach House studios in Ulverston, so i did…..It’s the first time I have taken photos of a band, and people actually moving! So it was a little tricky, but FUN. Here’s a few that I was pleased with for a first go…
When they have some music out there for your listening (ala myspace) I shall post a link on here, I’m hoping for good stuff for them, Neil is majorly talented and I reckon I’d enjoy taking their photos at Bestival, Glastonbury, Melt, Benicasism etc….oh how I need to go to some festivals this year, hurray up Summer!!
